How to Hang your Puzzle?

We can only offer “how to” tips on how to hang your puzzle. For more information on material and hanging brackets, we recommend consulting a specialist in your local hardware store.

Glue is not always required when looking to hang a puzzle. Puzzles can be clamped into a picture frame and hung without gluing. The advantage here is that the puzzle can be assembled again or exchanged for a different image.

It is advisable to order the backing or have it cut to size after the puzzle is completed and can be measured, as the dimensions of the finished puzzle may differ from the (approximate) dimensions printed on the box, since the puzzle is slightly larger due to the punching process during production. Other factors, like the prevailing humidity, may also influence the actual size of the puzzle.

When using plywood or chipboard for backing its ideal to;

  • Use thin (lightweight) plywood or chipboard
  •  Have the material cut to a transport-friendly size in your hardware store (2, 4, or more panels)
  • Check the approximate dimensions of your puzzle
  • Lay your puzzle pieces out evenly when gluing onto backing or spraying with puzzle conserver
  • Allow the puzzle to dry and seal for the recomended gluing time detailed on your glue/conserver instructions
  • Treat the final backing with universal wood/cardboard glue, wood paste or spray glue
  • Remember to lay the completed puzzle face down on the picture side (the blue back of the puzzle now faces up)
